Historical Prices

Optimal Trader provides free historical stock, index and mutual fund data from Yahoo! Finance. Historical data is available from exchanges in the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, India and more*.

Optimal Trader also provides free historical data and daily updates (15 minutes delayed) of currency rates.

It is often important to have the possibility to analyze historical price movement long time back when working with technical analysis systems. Optimal Trader provides you with data back to 1985.

Optimal Trader is a comprehensive downloader for historical, end-of-day and intraday snapshot stock quotes, currencies, funds and indices. It produces data output in ASCII formatted data which makes historical quotes data compatible with other charting and technical analysis software packages. It is very easy to update to the latest prices and with a single button click export an entire portfolio to Excel.

* Note: Other countries are also covered. To see if your country is covered, visit your local Yahoo! Finance and check if it provides historical data. If it does, then historical data for your country is available for downloading into Optimal Trader.

Direct Downloading from Yahoo! Finance

You can download data directly from Yahoo! Finance to Optimal Trader. To do this you need a valid ticker. For example, to find the valid ticker for Intel Corporation:

Open Yahoo! Finance
Type Intel in the search box. The valid ticker(symbol) is displayed(in this case: INTC)
Click Add in Optimal Trader
Type the ticker in the Yahoo symbol text boxand click Download from Yahoo! Finance
Historical data for Intel will be downloaded and Intel will be added to your portfolio
You can anytime update the stock by clicking Update

US Dollar (USD), EMU Euro (EUR), Japanese Yen (JPY), UK Pound (GBP), Swiss Franc (CHF), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Danish Krone (DKK), Norwegian Krone (NOK), Swedish Krona (SEK)

You can download rates from every combination of currency pair (USD-EUR, GBP-CAD, etc.). Historical rates are available back to 1993 (except for the Euro which has data back to 1999). Forex trading based on technical analysis has never been easier!
