OT Mobile Chart is a free portfolio manager and charting tool for your mobile phone. This tool on your mobile phone helps you keep track of your financial quotes, anytime and anywhere.

 

Start using OT Mobile Chart on your device in 2 easy steps:

  1. Go to optimaltrader.net/mobile on your mobile device's web browser.
  2. Click on the link provided to start using OT Mobile Chart on your device.

 

Requirements: The downloadable application requires a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to run. Certain devices, such as Palm Treo™ or Windows Mobile™ smartphones may not come pre-installed with a JVM. This service is free from Optimal Trader but charges from your carrier may apply.

Offline installation: Download this zip-file and extract the files. Transfer the two files to your mobile device and select either one of them on your mobile to start installation.

Note: OT Mobile Chart is a separate product and is not related in functionality to the technical analysis software Optimal Trader.

User Guide

Using OT Mobile Chart is really easy: simply fill your portfolio with one or more ticker symbols and you are ready to go!

The Download Screen

The first time you start OT Mobile Chart you will be asked to add a new ticker. Type a ticker in the textbox, scroll down to the Download button and click the button.
Where can I find ticker symbols?

 

The last year's history will be downloaded by default, but you can change the date to an earlier date to get longer charts, or a later date which will reduce the downloaded data to the phone minimizing cost. Change the date on the Download data from field before clicking the Download button.

If the download was successful you will see the price history of the stock in a chart below. You can download more tickers, or go to the Portfolio Screen through the menu by selecting the Go to my portfolio command.

If you get a warning when clicking Download it is because the application is trying to connect to the Internet do download data. This may result in charges from your provider. Data transmitted is minimized to keep costs low.

You will se a list with your downloaded tickers.

The green/red arrow on the left gives an indication of the last price compared to the price the day before.

The date of the last price is shown to the right of the ticker.

The last price is shown to the right of the date.

On the menu you can select to update the selected ticker with the latest prices(Update), updating the entire portfolio (Update All), deleting the selected ticker (Delete equity).

If you select Update or Update All a brief internet connection will be activated and in a few moments the quotes will be updated. Please note that if your device is not already connected, a new connection will be activated in order to start the update process.

If you select a ticker you will be taken to the chart screen with more information about the selected stock.

Here you will be presented with the full name of the selected stock and the market to which it belongs.

Analyze the stock with the help of the chart and information about the stock below the chart.

Scroll throw all your stocks by selecting the Next or the Prev button.

On the menu you can select to return to your portfolio, delete the current ticker or add  another ticker.

Frequently asked questions

 

Where can I find ticker symbols ?

OT Mobile Chart uses the same symbol convention as Yahoo! Finance. You can enter tickers of stocks, ETFs, indices, funds, futures and more. All major international exchanges are supported.

For example, to find the valid ticker for Intel Corporation:

  1. Open Yahoo! Finance
  2. Type Intel in the search box. The valid ticker is displayed(in this case: INTC)

 

What currency symbols are supported?

OT Mobile Chart support the following currency symbols: The following currencies are supported: US Dollar (USD), EMU Euro (EUR), Japanese Yen (JPY), UK Pound (GBP), Swiss Franc (CHF), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Danish Krone (DKK), Norwegian Krone (NOK), Swedish Krona (SEK).

You can download rates from every combination of currency pair. Use currency tickers like this: USDEUR, GBPCAD, etc...

 

I have problems using the ^ character on my mobile phone

Tickers of indices often start with a ^ character which can be difficult to type on a mobile phone. You can replace the ^ character with UPUP. For instance, the ticker for Dow Jones Index is ^DJI. Replace it with UPUPDJI on the phone.

 

How much data is transmitted between the phone and the provider?

A minimum amount of data is exchanged giving you fast results with minimum connection cost. The Internet connection will be activated only when downloading/updating quotes - People without flat data plans on their mobile device will appreciate this.

 

Why does my phone not download any quote?

To download quotes your mobile phone need an Internet service activated. Contact your mobile operator for more information about Internet service plans and related fees.

 

Do you provide real time quotes?

No. Quotes are delayed by 15-20 minutes.

 

What phone keys are required to use OT Mobile Chart?

The following key are used:
- arrows keys for cursor movements
- center button or enter button for selection

 

How do I uninstall OT Mobile Chart from my mobile phone?

All phone models in the market are different. In general you should locate the list of installed applications on your phone, select OT Mobile Chart application from the list, and then select a Remove or similar command. If you are still not able to do so please check the user guide of your phone.

 

OT Mobile Chart is not working on my device, what can I do?

Lots of mobile devices take place on the market every month and we can not test OT Mobile Chart with all devices. We have developed OT Mobile Chart trying to make it as compatible as possible in respect of the Java Microedition standard.
